About

We’re in critical times with climate change and clean air right at the top of the UK government’s and global partners agenda. Our innovations aim to assist the government in meeting its Net Zero obligations by 2050.  At the same time congestion continues to be a scourge in town and city centres, impacting productivity as well as people’s health and well-being.

For over a decade ULRP has been developing low carbon, safe-to-use and easy-to-install light rail solutions.  Much less expensive than heavy rail, metro and other existing technologies, ULR can integrate with existing systems.  They are quick and flexible to install.

We’re the only company that has supplied an ultra light rail solution in the UK as part of the franchised railway network.  The Stourbridge Shuttle has been operating since 2009, carrying seven million passengers, with over 99% reliability levels, delivering a £3m saving to the public purse.

The BOLT’s sleek  design creates a light and spacious feel, maximising passenger capacity.  It has step-free boarding at platforms and is DDA and RGS compliant.  Its strength comes from integral lattice beams, providing a strong cage to protect passengers.  Bonded clad panels stiffen it further.  And it’s designed to survive impact with heavy trains and vehicles, with large crumple zones at each end.

Our Green Credentials

The BOLT is designed to run on green electricity incorporating efficient flywheel brake energy recovery enabling a vehicle designed to use a smaller battery pack for any given service requirement and no continuous electrification.

The BioUltra is designed to run on biomethane; a renewable, low-cost, natural gas produced from organic waste – animal, human, crop and food.  By using biomethane the BioUltra is preventing harmful methane emissions.  It’s a natural, organic resource that’s too valuable to be wasted.

The BOLT and BioUltra are game-changers and provide wide opportunities for transport authorities to introduce green transport solutions. They can play a leading role in greening our public transport services. As transport models, they’re pioneering – clean, climate-friendly and low-cost.
